\nEspecially when Buying a Single Diamond versus a Wedding Set<\/strong>, everything is Different. <\/p>\n

\nSo let’s Dive into these Aspects <\/strong>that Affect a Solitaire Diamond, starting with the CONS!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solitaire Diamond Ring CONS<\/h2>\n

1) Cookie Cutter Rings!<\/h2>\n

2) Average is So Small<\/h2>\n

\nThe Average Carat Weight bought for a Solitaire Diamond is just 38 Points<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nAnd to see a Single Stone that Small on her Finger is not going to WOW anyone! <\/strong>It’s a Little, Itty, Bitty Diamond that’s Not Impressive<\/strong>. It won’t Knock her Socks off<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nBecause Inclusions and Color are more Apparent in Larger Stones, you’ll want to Upgrade the Quality <\/strong>as well. And Upgrading Quality just Blows Price outta the Water<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSI1, G-H, Very Good Cut, GIA Certified = $5,000<\/a><\/p>\n

6) The Settings are HIGH<\/h2>\n

\nWhen you have a Solitaire Diamond, that Stone will Sit up High off the Mounting<\/strong>. They do this for a Reason: So a Wrap or Insert, Jacket or Guard, can Fit up against them.<\/p>\n

1) It Retains Value<\/h2>\n

\nOne Single Diamond will Retain its Value<\/strong> Much Better than a Wedding Set with Multiple Stones.<\/p>\n

\nYou have all the Money Invested into One Large Diamond<\/a>, so Trade-Ins, or Re-Selling it later is Easy-Peasy<\/strong>. It’s Easier to Appraise, Easier to Certify, Easier to Insure… <\/p>\n

\nIt’s One Stone<\/strong>. You can’t get any Simpler than that.<\/p>\n

2) With this Ring “I DO”<\/h2>\n

\nThe Great Thing about such a Traditional Mounting is this: She’s Going to LOVE it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nI always say, if you’re Buying a Diamond Engagement Ring, that you should Always BUY the Diamond LOOSE First<\/strong> (and Certified<\/strong>). And then, and only then, should you Choose a Mounting for it.<\/p>\n

\nThat keeps you Focused on the Diamond and Quality<\/strong>, and that way you can View the Diamond Magnified<\/strong> from all Angles and Sides (Like you can at James Allen<\/a>), and see all the Flaws inside the Stone.<\/p>\n

\nThis Task is much much harder to do when it’s Pre-Set<\/strong>. Prongs or Mounting could Easily be Covering up and Hiding Chips, Inclusions, Breaks, Imperfections…<\/p>\n

\nLoose Stones are IT!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nLoose First, then Mount it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

4) I See Numbers<\/h2>\n

\nEven after a Diamond is set in a Solitaire Ring, they are still Easy to Scope and Identify. Because the Stone sits up High, the Girdle is Exposed<\/strong>, and it allows for Easy Magnification (with a Microscope<\/a> or a 10x Jeweler’s Loupe<\/a>) so you can see any Laser Inscription Numbers<\/strong> on the side of the Stone (if it has any<\/strong>, not all Certified Diamonds are Laser Inscribed like the Stone shown below).<\/p>\n

I LOVE Viewing Diamonds at 10x!<\/h2>\n

\n10x Magnification (What they Use to Grade Diamonds with) allows you to View the Stone Quickly, and Instantly be able to tell if it’s your Diamond or NOT!<\/strong> That way, you’ll see if your Diamond was Switched or Swapped Out<\/strong> for a Lower Quality Stone.<\/p>\n

\nSWEET!<\/strong><\/p>\n

5) Let HER Pick the Mounting<\/h2>\n

\nWomen want to be Surprised with the Proposal and Ring<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nBut they also want the Ring they’ve always Dreamed <\/strong>of…<\/p>\n

\nWhich is why again, I Advise a Solitaire Mounting. You Present the Diamond to her in a Plain, Thin Ring, and tell her that you can go Ring Shopping with you (If she wants) so she can Pick out the Mounting she’s always Desired<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

She’ll be Excited!<\/h2>\n

\nAND… <\/strong>She’ll be Delighted that you didn’t Ruin the Surprise!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n

6) Cleanings and Inspections<\/h2>\n

\nA Solitaire Mounting is the Easiest Ring to Clean and Inspect!<\/strong><\/p>\n

EVER!<\/h2>\n

\n(And I Prefer 4 Prongs<\/strong> versus 6 because it makes it more open to Viewing <\/strong>and Less Gaudy<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nYou can Stick a Soft Tooth Brush in between the Prongs and Gently Scrub underneath the Stone where it gets Dirtiest the most<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nYou can Pick up a 10x Jeweler’s Loupe<\/a> and Easily see your Entire Stone, the Girdle, the Culet, Inspect it for Damage, Worn Prongs, Chips, etc…<\/p>\n

\n(And you can also Buy Yourself a Simple and Effective Jewelry Cleaner<\/a>\"\" to keep it Spotless<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nClean = Tons of Sparkles!<\/strong><\/p>\n

7) The Mountings are Cheap!<\/h2>\n

\nNow, while a Single Diamond will COST you MORE<\/strong>, the Mounting Surely WON’T!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBecause this Tiffany Style of Ring is the Most Inexpensive Mounting<\/strong> you could Buy (As long as it’s not Platinum<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The Price is Great!<\/h2>\n

\nThe Style is Perfect!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnd the only thing left to Do…<\/p>\n

Is to get a Big Fat “I DO!”<\/h2>\n

\nGood Luck Getting Down on one Knee<\/strong>…<\/p>\n
