Everyone gets sticker shock.<\/h2>\n

\nThe price of diamonds can always make one gasp loudly and say “WOW<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\nOne guy said to me “Did I say diamond?<\/strong> I meant dime-one.<\/strong>” lol<\/p>\n

\nIt’s true, the price of diamonds is not<\/strong> cheap.<\/p>\n

One couple just about had a heart attack looking for a 30th anniversary diamond<\/strong>. They only paid $350<\/strong> for the diamond she now wears. So to them, the inflated dollar amount was staggering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But then again, look at the price of bread<\/strong>, stamps, cars and homes over the last 50 years… Everything has escalated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

First time diamond shoppers…<\/h2>\n

First time shoppers react like a freight train hit them when they hear “This diamond is $10,000<\/strong>” They are quick to say “Adios! I can’t afford that…<\/strong>” Then they high tail it out the door…<\/p>\n

The truth is, if they had shopped and compared quality (cut<\/a>, color<\/a>, clarity<\/a> and carat weight<\/a>) all around town they would see, it’s just the going rate of diamonds.<\/p>\n

It’s not high.<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s not low.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt’s just the average price you pay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The higher the quality, the more expensive a diamond will be. Easy as that. You get what you pay for.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So how do you overcome sticker shock?<\/h2>\n

There is no way to totally overcome that first price jolt… You have to start somewhere.<\/p>\n

When you hear thousands<\/strong>, it could take you a couple of days to digest. Like it or not, buying a diamond could cost you a pretty penny. What can you really do about it? Take a deep breath and relax.<\/p>\n

Why are diamonds priced so high?<\/h2>\n

Easy… They last a lifetime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA diamond bought today will never<\/strong> age. It will never grow old, wear down, erode, tarnish or decay. Everything else you buy in life will: cars, homes, clothing… everything. But not diamonds.<\/strong> They stay brand new forever.<\/p>\n

Hence, the high price tag<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Divide $8,000 up into a lifetime and you’ll see, it’s really not that bad.<\/p>\n

What will help ease the pain???<\/strong><\/p>\n

Homework.<\/h2>\n

\nShop and compare jewelers, diamonds, quality, policies and prices (browse through my diamond guide here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It may be a lot to learn, but the more prepared you are, the better you will be at making a good buying decision and getting the perfect diamond for you.<\/p>\n

If you go into this purchase blindly, you will only end up with a cheap, low quality diamond<\/strong> that you’ll probably regret. You don’t want that to happen.<\/p>\n

You need to learn.<\/h2>\n

\nThis doesn’t mean you have to spend an arm and a leg. It means, you should buy the best diamond that you could possibly afford.<\/p>\n

To do this, you must learn about diamonds, the 4C’s, and certification. They are vital and will help you understand the difference between a $2,000 diamond and a $6,000 diamond.<\/p>\n

Buy what you feel comfortable with.<\/h2>\n

Only spend what you feel good about. You don’t want to over do it. Spend what makes you happy<\/strong>. Pay cash if you can<\/strong>. Put it on an interest free charge account<\/strong>. Leave it in layaway until you need it. Nothing says you have to go broke buying a diamond you love.<\/p>\n

You may want to…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wait to buy.<\/h2>\n

If you are in this relationship (marriage) for a lifetime, waiting another year or so to buy the ring won’t really matter much. It’s just a materialistic possession, it doesn’t take the place of love or commitment.<\/p>\n

Take your time with the purchase. If sticker shock hits you that bad, maybe you’re not ready to buy a diamond?<\/strong><\/p>\n

$5,000 (average price for a good quality one carat diamond<\/strong>) is a lot to spend (and you can see these one carat diamonds here<\/a>). Just make sure you’re really ready.<\/p>\n

Do your homework.<\/h2>\n

It’s not the price that’s giving you sticker shock…<\/p>\n

It’s just not being prepared<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Learn about diamonds.<\/p>\n

Understand diamonds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then, that price tag will make much more sense.<\/p>\n
