\nPeople love to get their rings cleaned<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAfter all, there’s nothing better than a clean, sparkling diamond.<\/p>\n

\nBut, did you know that cleaning your jewelry can actually loosen your diamonds<\/strong> and gemstones?<\/p>\n

It’s true.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sad fact is…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cleaners loosen stones.<\/h2>\n

\nAll too often the jewelry salesperson will check your stones for tightness before they put them in the cleaner (or they should<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

This is fine because they can usually catch if a stone is loose or if you have a broken prong. <\/p>\n

After your jewelry gets clean is where most jewelry stores drop the ball<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

They give you back your jewelry and say<\/strong>… <\/p>\n

\n“Everything looks great!” <\/p>\n

Until your stones fall out.<\/h2>\n

Not good.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nWhy did this happen?<\/p>\n

Weren’t the stones tight?<\/h2>\n

Yes and NO!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ultrasonic cleaning machines<\/a> can loosen your diamonds or gems more. The vibrations from the machine (ultrasonic sound waves<\/strong>) can actually wiggle your diamonds enough to make them loose (usually this means your mounting is worn<\/strong> or the prongs are weak<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Sometimes the stones get so loose that they come right out in the cleaner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But many times the diamonds don’t fall out or drop loose, until the next day<\/strong> or week.<\/p>\n

The sad thing is, the jewelry store can easily say “We checked your stones.<\/strong> They were tight.” This is a true statement…<\/p>\n

Most customers actually see<\/strong> them check the stones.<\/p>\n

But what the store didn’t do, was to double check them again<\/strong> after the jewelry was cleaned.<\/p>\n

Double check them?<\/h2>\n

\nYES! <\/strong>Sometimes the only thing holding in your stones is dirt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dirt and debris have built up on your diamonds over time and have held them snugly and securely in the mounting like cement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When the sonic cleaner cleans this dirt away, that’s when the stones become loose.<\/p>\n

Diamonds should never be loose.<\/h2>\n

When a jewelry store cleans your jewelry, diamonds and gemstones, ask them to double check the stones<\/strong> again after <\/strong>the items were cleaned.<\/p>\n

\nYou want to double check that the stones are still tight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It could save you time<\/strong>, money<\/strong> and aggravation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Double check your stones, or else they may end up in the rug (and in the vacuum<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

It doesn’t cost you anything and it only takes a minute more…<\/p>\n

\nYou can even do this yourself with a cleaner<\/a> and a 10x jeweler’s loupe<\/a>.
\nBecause if you don’t catch them now, you may never see them again.<\/p>\n
