You know how to tell a Good Jewelry Salesperson<\/strong> from a Bad<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

\nPoint to a Diamond Solitaire in the Showcase<\/a> and ask them What the “CUT” is<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nChances are 90% of the time, you’ll hear them say:<\/p>\n

“That’s a Brilliant Cut Diamond”<\/h2>\n

\n(Or “Marquise Cut<\/strong>” or “Princess Cut<\/strong>“, whatever the Shape <\/strong>may be)<\/p>\n

\nBut, they could even be Simpler<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nThey could say:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The Cut is Round”<\/h2>\n

\n“Say What?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMany Salespeople that Show and Sell Diamonds Know Very Little about “Diamond Cut”<\/strong>, and will Simply Refer to the Shape of the Stone as the “Cut<\/strong>” of the Diamond and Nothing Else.<\/p>\n

\n“It’s an Oval Cut!<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

They look at you and Smile<\/h2>\n

\n“Doesn’t it Sparkle?<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\nSure<\/strong>… But that my Friends is the End of the Discussion<\/strong> about CUT!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sad, But True!<\/h2>\n

\nEvery now and then you’ll find a Salesperson that will go into Cut with a Little Bit more Detail<\/strong>. They’ll Briefly <\/strong>Explain to you that Cut will Affect the Overall Sparkle of the Diamond (Very True<\/strong>), and they’ll pull out a Nifty Diagram (similar to the one shown below) that Shows if a Diamond is too Deep or too Shallow, the Diamond will Lose Light, hence, Losing Sparkle, Brilliance, and Fire (also True<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\n\"The<\/p>\n

And that’s THAT!<\/h2>\n

\nThis is probably the MOST Diamond Info <\/strong>you’ll ever hear about Cut (Unless you Read my Website).<\/p>\n

It’s Pretty Cut and Dry!<\/h2>\n

\nMany Jewelry Salespeople know nothing more than this Vague Explanation<\/strong> that provides Very little Insight.<\/p>\n

\nA Very Brief Statement about “CUT<\/strong>” (That doesn’t really Pertain to the Actual Diamond<\/strong> they’re showing you) and then it’s on to Color and Clarity<\/strong> (Easier Topics to Digest).<\/p>\n

\nYou won’t know if that Diamond is Spread<\/strong>, a Poor Make<\/strong>, or if it has an Uneven Girdle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Noneya<\/h2>\n

\nThe Salesperson won’t tell what the Diamond Cut is, they won’t Compare Stones<\/strong> so you can see the Difference for yourself. And they certainly (99% of the time<\/strong>) won’t show you the Diamond under a Microscope<\/a> so you can see what it is you’re Buying (And Trust me, You WANT to see the Diamond Magnified FIRST!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nAll you get is the Sizzle<\/strong>, the Romance<\/strong>, and “It’s Such a Pretty Stone!<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

Sigh!<\/h2>\n

\nThey’ll point to the Certificate<\/strong> and talk about their Great Warranties, Service, and Interest Free Financing… With a Big Warm Smile<\/strong> of course…<\/p>\n

\nAnd all you really wanted to know was:<\/p>\n

“What’s the Cut?”<\/h2>\n

\nSo Listen up…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cut is NOT Shape!<\/h2>\n

\nFor Example, Cut is NOT “Cushion Cut<\/strong>” (even though it does Officially have “Cut” attached to its Name like these Cushion Cut Diamonds HERE!<\/a>)<\/p>\n

\nThe Cut of a Stone is NOT Round<\/strong>, Square, Oval, Triangle, or Heart Shaped…<\/p>\n

\nThe Cut is the Actual Faceting of the Stone<\/strong>. The Depth. The Width. The Proportions, Angles, Thickness, Girdle, Culet, Crown, Table, Star Facets, Pavilion… (See image below)<\/p>\n

\n\"GIA<\/p>\n

The WAY a Diamond is Cut is the CUT!<\/strong><\/p>\n

NOT “ROUND”<\/h2>\n

\nSo if a Salesperson blows off “CUT<\/strong>” as something Non-Important and Vague<\/strong>, I would Shop Somewhere Else<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Easy as that!<\/h2>\n

\nDiamonds are Priced and Sold<\/strong> Depending on ALL the Diamond 4C’s<\/a>: Cut<\/a>, Color<\/a>, Clarity<\/a> and Carat Weight<\/a>. Cut is as Important (Actually the MOST Important C<\/strong>) than all the other 4C’s. <\/p>\n

\nCut really does Impact and Determine How a Diamond Sparkles the MOST!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\"Cut<\/p>\n

That Sparkle IS the Life of a Diamond<\/h2>\n

\nWithout Sparkle, you’d have nothing but a Boring, Lifeless Rock<\/strong>… You might as well Wear a Stone from your Driveway<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nJust look at any GIA Diamond Report<\/a> and you’ll see the Cut Grades<\/strong>, along with the Symmetry and Polish Grades<\/strong>. Look for them all to say “EXCELLENT<\/strong>” if you truly want your Diamond to Shine.<\/p>\n

\n\"An<\/p>\n

CUT = SPARKLE!<\/h2>\n

\nThe Better the Cut (And I only Truly Advise “Triple Excellent Cut Grades<\/strong>“), the More your Diamond will Sparkle.<\/p>\n

\nConcentrate on CUT<\/strong>. Cut will make any Quality of Stone (Color and Clarity) look BETTER<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
