\nMost People never even think about Prongs<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Until it’s Too Late!<\/h2>\n

But you Should!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prongs are the Tiny Metal Fingers that Wrap up and over your Diamond and Hold it Securely in Place<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Normally a Diamond Ring will have a 4-Prong or 6-Prong Head that the Diamond sits in. With a Round Diamond, there really are No Issues with Prongs, other than making sure they’re Spaced Evenly Apart, are Resting on Top of the Diamond (Not Gapped so Fibers can get Caught Underneath<\/strong>), and Not Thinned out, Weak or Cracked.<\/p>\n

Easy to Maintain Prongs<\/h2>\n

\nRound Prongs, or Normal Prongs are Easy to Maintain<\/strong>. You just take your Ring in Twice a Year<\/strong> to your Local Jewelry Store and have them Check the Stone for Tightness, and Check the Prongs for Damage or Wear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nOther than that, you’re Good to go!<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\n(Until your Prongs Wear Down Enough that they’ll need to be Retipped or Rebuilt again).<\/p>\n

\nOther Shapes of Diamonds are Not So Lucky<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Diamonds with a Point<\/h2>\n

\nOther Shapes of Diamonds that come to a Point (or Tip) on the End, like the Marquise Cut, Princess Cut, Pear Cut, Heart Cut, or Trilliant Cut, are a Whole Different Story<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\"Diamonds<\/p>\n

These Diamonds with Corners and Points can Crack, Chip, Bust and Break<\/strong> if you Hit them hard enough. And Especially, if you have the Wrong Type of Head (or Prong) on your Stone.<\/p>\n

\nOften, you’ll see Pointed Diamonds with Regular, Standard Prongs<\/strong> like this on the Ends…<\/p>\n

I Cringe when I see that!<\/h2>\n

\nPointed Diamonds with Regular Prongs on the Ends are Accidents Waiting to Happen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For if you just Hit the Prong that is covering a Point too much in one Direction, that Point can Snap off and Break your Beautiful Diamond<\/strong>. See image below…<\/p>\n

\nTrying to Cover a Point with a Round Object just Doesn’t Work<\/strong>. I Don’t Recommend them!<\/p>\n

\nV-Tips are Heavier Prongs that come up on each side of the Point with Flat Edges that Securely Hold the Point in place. They keep it Very Protected and keep it from Chipping. Take a look<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

V-Tips are Awesome<\/h2>\n

\nV-Tips make the Diamond look Better and More Distinct because the Edges are Uniform and Defined. It gives the Diamonds that Great Point that Looks So Good<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo the next time you’re out Shopping for a Diamond Ring, or Engagement Ring, Look at the Prongs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIf your Diamond comes to a Point, make sure it’s Enclosed in a V-Tipped Prong<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIf it isn’t…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ask for it!<\/h2>\n

\nJewelers can Swap out the Heads and put in More Secure V-tipped Heads, No Problem!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It may Cost you a Couple of Bucks More, but Trust me, it’s Worth Every Penny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
