“It’s CURSED!”<\/h2>\n

\nThere has been a long history of diamonds being cursed<\/strong> in the past. <\/p>\n

\nAt one point in time, people really did think they would bring bad luck, dark karma, and even death<\/strong> to those who possessed them or worn them. <\/p>\n

King Tut<\/h2>\n

\nLook at King Tut’s tomb<\/strong> for example. The unfortunate circumstances that followed people whole stole from his grave led to dire and mysterious mishaps. They all perished soon after.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nWhether you believe these were coincidences, or believe they were cursed is up to you<\/strong>. Some people have deep rooted beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. Even today, cultures believe in bad omens, curses and karma<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

India’s Flawed Diamonds<\/h2>\n

\nTake a look at India…<\/strong> In India, their mythology<\/strong> says that it’s a curse to wear any diamond that’s flawed<\/strong>. They put more significance on clarity<\/strong> than they do cut, color and carat weight.<\/p>\n

\nThey say that a diamond should be rid of any inclusions, imperfections or flaws<\/strong>, otherwise their lives and possibly their family’s lives would be harmed or in great danger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Is this Just?<\/h2>\n

\nWill they struggle through life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you believe in their ancestors, you will believe this to be true<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut, the real question is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Can you buy a diamond with no clarity flaws?<\/h2>\n

\nIt all depends on what you consider a flaw!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nYou see, a diamond not having “flaws<\/strong>” could really mean two totally different things:<\/p>\n

\n1)<\/strong> The diamond clarity is Flawless (the highest GIA rating<\/strong> there is for clarity – Like these diamonds HERE!<\/a>), and void of any inclusions… or<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> The diamond has flaws, but they are microscopic only<\/strong> and won’t be seen with the bare eye (or unaided eye, you’ll need a microscope<\/a> or a 10x jeweler’s loupe<\/a> to see them).<\/p>\n

\nYou see, it’s all in the interpretation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So which one is it?<\/h2>\n

\nI’m leaning more towards the second one (an eye-clean diamond<\/strong>). I say this because it’s almost impossible to obtain a diamond with zero flaws.<\/p>\n

\nReally it is.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do they even exist?<\/h2>\n

\nA Flawless diamond can still have a little natural<\/strong> on the side of the stone. So is this truly flawless?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nFlawless diamonds only account for 1% of all the diamonds mined<\/strong> in the World today. That’s a very small percentage<\/strong> of diamonds for India to buy.<\/p>\n

\nThis means you won’t find very many of them in jewelry stores. Usually Flawless stones are collectors pieces and don’t even hit the market<\/strong>. They are very rare and very expensive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo just about every single diamond that you come across will have some flaws in them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flaws are a given<\/h2>\n

\nThey do, to some extent or another, they do. Even a totally Flawless diamond is only “flawless<\/strong>” under 10x magnification<\/strong>. Which means, if you up the power, to say 20x or 30x, in all Honesty, you probably would see flaws.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNote:<\/strong> Diamonds are graded using only 10x powered magnification.<\/p>\n

\nSo if a Flawless stone is only Flawless under 10x, then what happens to the curse?<\/strong> Is the curse only good under 10x magnification?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you following me?<\/h2>\n

\nSo here’s my advice…<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you are on a mission to find a diamond without flaws… Look into VVS or VS diamonds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nVS and VVS have very, tiny, imperfections in the stone, but they are not visible by viewing the stone. You’ll need a microscope to see them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo by looking at the stone with your very own eyes, they will appear clean and flawless.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What about SI diamonds?<\/h2>\n

\nNow you could get into SI1 diamonds<\/a> (not SI2<\/strong>), and the inclusions should<\/strong> still be invisible to the eye… But I do know people that have excellent vision<\/strong> and they have been able to see flaws in an SI1 clarity diamond (I can’t – my eyesight isn’t that good<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nThis is why I say go for VVS or VS<\/strong>… Just to be safe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAny diamond SI2 or lower will absolutely have eye visible flaws in them<\/strong> (cursed). And some of these stones will have huge<\/strong> flaws that are very visible. Like black spots or cracks or fracture lines… Ones that stand out and say “look at me<\/strong>” (like these I1 clarity diamonds here<\/a>). Not cool! I would pass on those.<\/p>\n

\nBuy VVS or VS<\/strong> (level 1 or 2 doesn’t matter), and you’ll be in good shape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nTo the eye, they will have no flaws.<\/p>\n

\nAnd you know what no flaws<\/strong> means? <\/p>\n

No curse! :)<\/h2>\n
