5 Best Engagement Ring Tips

Getting Engaged?

Good!

Congrats!

But, before you buy that engagement ring, STOP!

For there are 5 things that you MUST KNOW!

They will not only save you money, get you a kick ass diamond ring, but keep you from getting ripped off as well.

5 BEST TIPS before you buy “THE RING!”

Let’s begin…

1) Buy a Solitaire

A plain mounting (often called a Tiffany), is fail-proof and looks beautiful. It shows a diamond off better than any other mounting.

That way you won’t have to know if she’ll like what you pick out

Plain mountings ALWAYS work!

It’s simple, attractive, and she can always have it reset into something different later, if her heart desires.

And if the budget is tight, add little diamonds around the center stone (like a halo mounting). That way, you can opt for a smaller center stone, which saves you money, and still gives you that big look.

Compare the two below…

Save MORE Money!

If you purchase a fancy cut diamond, like a princess cut or cushion cut, then you’ll save even more money (rounds are always the most expensive for the exact same size and quality).

Compare the two Diamonds below…

2) SI2 or Better Clarity

You don’t need the best clarity. In fact, if you stick with the average SI Range (SI1 or SI2 – there is no SI3), then you’ll save a ton of green backs. Because anything SI2 or higher is eye-clean. Meaning, you won’t see any flaws with the bare eye (you’ll need a Microscope or a 10x Jeweler’s Loupe to see them).

Compare an VVS2 to an SI1 below…

Now that’s some true savings!

3) Excellent Cuts!

Don’t skimp on cut. You can skimp on everything else… JUST NOT CUT!

Cut makes everything look better; the color, the size, the clarity, the sparkle, the brilliance…

It’s ALL about the CUT!

The best cut there is, is EXCELLENT! I would recommend that 100%.

And if you also get “excellent” in Polish and Symmetry, as well, then you’ll have yourself an unbeatable “supercut“, like the True Hearts, Signature Diamonds and Hearts and Fire!

They are not only impressive, but will shine like a billion stars in the sky.

They’re well worth every penny!

4) H or Higher Color

Stick with a Fine White Diamond Color, or better (G-H+). That way you don’t have any yellow hue or tint in your stone.

Personally, I prefer Pure White Diamonds (D, E, and F), they tend to POP more and give a diamond much needed oomph!

5) BUY GIA CERTIFIED!

This is a big one… ONLY BUY GIA!

Nothing else. Ever!

Meaning no IGI, Gemex, or EGL

GIA is the BEST!

GIA (The Gemological Institute of America) are the people that wrote the book on diamonds and diamond grading (they developed the 4C’s).

They are extremely high-tech and strict when it comes to diamond grading (you won’t get a better report- PERIOD!)

And, chances are good, if you compare two diamonds of the exact same quality (like SI1, G), but different Certificates (i.e. GIA and IGI), the GIA stone will usually always look better, cleaner, brighter (9 times out of 10).

Go into any jewelry store and put them side by side. Compare them. You’ll see!

And lastly…

Make sure any diamond you buy does NOT have Fluorescence.

(And many, many websites online, even big time national chains, do not list whether a diamond has Fluorescence or NOT!!! SCARY!)

Double Check If The Diamond Has Fluorescence

Fluorescence can make a diamond (of any quality, even the highest), look weird, odd, or bad in natural light. It could even make them look foggy or hazy. And that’s sad if you bought the best diamond you could afford, and it still looks like crap!

So skip fluorescence, make sure the certificate says NONE!

So there you GO!

And if you want to know where to get them… James Allen, of course.

Their prices are some of the best you’ll ever find (compare them to chain mall stores and you’ll be blown away).
