Let’s Play a Game!
I’ll Show you a Bunch of Diamonds, 10x Magnified, and your Job is to Figure out which of the Stones are SI2 Clarity!
Sound Easy?
SI2 Clarity is the Diamond Range that Splits Visible Flaws from Invisible Flaws.
Stones Higher than SI2 will be Eye-Clean, and you’ll have to use a Microscope to see those Inclusions.
Stones lower than SI2 Will Show Visible Flaws, Cracks, Lines, Clouds and Chips that you can easily see without any Magnification. You can just look at the Stone and they’ll be Apparent.
Do you think you could tell them Apart?
Take a look at the Clarity Chart below to see where SI2 Falls, and what an Average SI2 Diamond looks like…
Now let’s look at the Diamonds!
(As Sold by James Allen).
See if you can tell if they are SI2 or not. Some of the Stones are SI1, some are I1, and one of them is even a VS2 Diamond.
Can you Figure them out?
Good luck!

Here’s the ANSWERS:
No Peeking if you haven’t Played the Game…
THEY ARE ALL SI2 CLARITY DIAMONDS!
That’s Right. Every Single Stone above is SI2.
Crazy isn’t it?
It just goes to show you that there is a WIDE Range of Possibilities when it comes to SI2 Diamonds. Some will Appear more like an SI1 Diamond, others will look more like an I1 Clarity Stone.
And unless you actually Viewed the Diamonds close up and Magnified, you probably would Never Know that such a Difference Existed.
This is why it’s so Important to VIEW the Diamonds BEFORE you Buy them! View them under a Microscope or a 10x Jeweler’s Loupe to see what they look inside. It could be a Good SI2, it could be a Bad SI2.
Seeing is Believing!
This is True for ALL Clarity Grades as well. Some VS2 Diamonds look more like VS1, and others look more like SI1. This is because Diamonds are Graded in a Range…
If you think of the Diamond Clarity Chart more like this, it makes more Sense.
You’ll see that Diamonds could be Closer to one Grade than the other.
So Before you Purchase any Diamond, especially just by the Grade only or what a Certificate (Diamond Report) says, STOP and VIEW the Stone under a 10x Microscope FIRST!
You MUST see any Diamond Up Close before you Purchase it. That way you’ll know how the Stone Faces up and if it looks like the Clarity Grade given.
Every Diamond is Different and Every Clarity is Unique. Same is True for Color as well. They all Vary and are Graded in a Range.
Scope the Diamond and Judge for yourself
This is why it’s Good to Shop with James Allen, they Show you all the Real Diamonds Magnified so you can See the Difference. Other Companies DON’T do that (A Shame!)
