Nugget Jewelry Is Back In Style

WOW! I’m shocked…

Just years ago I was stating how I was so happy nugget jewelry was gone…

Surprise, surprise!

After being gone from jewelry stores for decades;

Nugget is BACK!

In the 80’s and 90’s it was so hot and popular, nugget was everywhere; rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, watches

But as white gold took over the market, nugget faded away (much like the herringbone chain and omega).

But with yellow gold sneaking it’s way into the system, that brings all things yellow back.

At Zales, right now:

You’ll see the first signs of nugget emerging. Zales, being owned by the largest jewelry chain in the world (Sterling inc.), is taking these little craters for a ride.

I’ve never been a big fan of nugget, but many people love them. Some would melt down all their scrap gold pieces (old rings, broken chains, bent earrings…) and design their own one-of-a-kind nugget ring or pendant (See an independent jeweler for that). Some would even add in a diamond or two.

They sold really, really well.

And now they’re back, but then again, so is all sorts of yellow goodies (thanks much to the trend of rose gold).

The biggest concerns I had with nugget were the cheap designs. Many rings were nothing but a thin shell that would dig into your finger and leave deep imprints. That smarts! So if you’re shopping for a ring, try it on, look underneath, see if it’s solid, flat and comfortable. Heavier, more thick pieces feel better and look better.

So what’s your opinion?

Will you be buying nugget? Do you still have any jewelry on hand?

Do you think nugget is back for good?

Let me know in the comments below.

And if you’re itching to buy, check out the full Zales line of nugget jewelry here.

Cheers! :)
