It’s October!
Better get your pink ribbons ready, because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
For the entire month of October, you’ll see pink ribbons everywhere. And it’s sole purpose is to give strength and hope, support the survivors and those that were lost, bring awareness to the disease that affects so many women, and raise donations for this wonderful charity.
Pink Signifies Femininity
The pink ribbon idea actually came from the familiar song “Tie a yellow ribbon around the ole oak tree…“
And since then, ribbons have represented just about every charitable organization, in just about every color possible.
But pink was picked for breast cancer awareness. It was handed out to breast cancer survivors in a Race for the Cure (1990’s) and the pink momentum builds every year and gets stronger and stronger.
When you see a pink ribbon, you know what it stands for!
Just like these pink ribbons here:
If you don’t have a pink ribbon lapel pin, buy one!
Wear One!
Support the cause. Because breast cancer affects and touches everyone at some time in their life (1 in 8 women). Either you, or someone you know… And just recently, Julia Louis-Dreyfus just announced she had breast cancer. So sad.
Cancer Sucks!
I hate it.
So head on over to the national breast cancer awareness .org and donate TODAY. And if you haven’t bought yourself a pink ribbon, do so here!
Cheers! :)
