Compare and Cry!

Okay, maybe you won’t cry, but you could cry at the amount of money you waste!

Really!

I went to Jared’s (online), looking to compare a diamond engagement ring. I wanted a really nice quality… Instead I got low goods (almost all the diamonds online were I clarity!)

So I picked a 1.00 Carat Princess Cut Diamond, and then headed over to James Allen (online).

I picked a diamond that was equal in price (including the mounting), and what I found, confirms one thing:

If you Don’t Compare, it’s a SCARE!

For, a little bit less money, you can get a much better (MUCH MUCH BETTER) diamond, and everything about it is higher in quality, color, clarity, and characteristics.

It boggles my mind!

That image says it all!

You really can’t compare…

So let’s break it down:

Jareds

The diamond at Jareds looks nice. Sadly, that’s NOT the real diamond you would get. That’s a sample photo and what you get, could be way different than what you see.

Now, the quality that they have listed on their website, is sparse. Very little info that begs more questions than it’s worth.

They have the Carat listed as 1.00. But, you could get one as small as 95 points, too.

The Clarity is I2.

I2 is Imperfect and will have pretty big eye-visible inclusions in the stone. It could be large black spots, clouds, cracks, foggy areas… I2 diamonds are known for this, that’s why they are the second to the lowest clarity on the face of the earth.

This diamond is also I color.

I Color is an average color that is pretty common in most stores (especially mall stores).

The website doesn’t list the Cut (and they probably couldn’t tell you even if you asked). It doesn’t list the Polish. It doesn’t list the Symmetry. And it doesn’t even say if the diamond has Fluorescence or not (which could be a HUGE visible difference in how the diamond appears).

PLUS – It’s NOT Certified!

All this, and it sells for $3499.99.

Now… Let’s move over to James Allen.

James Allen (who has killer diamonds and awesome prices), has a 1.02 Carat Princess Cut Diamond that is sold LOOSE. They sell them loose for one particular reason, so you can see the actual diamond, close up, in 10x magnification

BEFORE YOU BUY IT!

This is the REAL diamond, not a stock photo, and you can spin it around in 3D technology.

It’s incredible to view.

Now, the Clarity of this diamond is SI2 (again, I picked this because I’m comparing PRICE, they have much higher quality stones than this). SI2 means that the diamond is EYE-CLEAN. It has no visible flaws to the naked eye from a top-down view. You’ll need a 10x Microscope or a Jeweler’s Loupe to see the imperfections (which is great).

The Color of this stone is H.

H Color is at the high end of the Near Colorless Range, and is considered a Fine White diamond (higher than I).

This diamond has a Good Cut!

A Good Cut, a Very Good Symmetry, and a Very Good Polish… So it will sparkle and shine like crazy.

It also has zero (none) Fluorescence (it won’t look odd in natural sunlight).

Plus, the diamond IS Certified by GIA (the best in the business), and…

The Price is Cheaper!

Putting this loose princess cut diamond into a 14kt white gold mounting (similar to Jareds), the prices comes out to be:

$3410.00

Cheaper, Better, Brighter, Bigger, and the Mounting is Heavier!

It’s a WIN WIN WIN!

So if you’re thinking about heading over to Jareds to do a little ring shopping, STOP!

CHECK OUT JAMES ALLEN FIRST!

The price is better, the quality is better, and it’s CERTIFIED!

It’s a Huge Difference!

Plus, if you use my special discount code (RINGSUM) at checkout, they’ll knock 10% off the mounting price (not the diamond, just the mounting). But that will still save you an extra $50.

COOL?

Always shop and compare diamonds, quality, prices and certificates.

It’s wise for you and your pocketbook!

P.S. And yes, since James Allen sells the diamond and mounting separately, I did photoshop the diamond onto the ring to use for this example. It still beats a sample photo anyday. :)
