Not until this year did I hear the phrase “Galentines“.
I thought it was pretty silly, Valentine’s for your girl friends?
But Trust Me…
It really is a thing. And it’s gaining momentum and steam.
Galentine’s Day actually started in 2010 (I know, WOW), and it was created on Parks & Recreation, an episode that aired Feb 11, 2010, called “Galentine’s Day“.
In the plot, Amy Poehler (Leslie) throws a Galentine’s Day part for her female friends (to get over their boyfriend blues). And believe it or not, but it’s not even celebrated on Valentine’s Day. Nope…
Galentine’s is Feb. 13th instead!
(Just wait until that falls on a Friday)
And this year, “Galentines” is actually being picked up by one of the biggest jewelers in the country: Kay Jewelers.
So much so, in fact, that they have entire ads dedicated towards gifts for gal pals.
As seen here:
Fun stuff like pendants, earrings, hearts and bling…
So if you have girl friends, have your own celebration tomorrow.
Show your appreciation with diamonds, gold, and gemstones.
