True Story:
I’m talking with my sister the other day…
She’s telling me that she thinks her daughter of 19 might be gay.
I ask her why she thinks that.
She says she has a feeling. Just the way she interacts with boys and girls. That, and the fact she’s never had a real boyfriend. It makes her wonder.
“Does that bother you?” I ask.
“No,” she replied. “I would support her either way, but it would be nice to know. That lifestyle is not an easy lifestyle.”
“Are there any other signs you see?” I say.
“Like what?“
“I don’t know, Facebook, Instagram, gifts, messages, pride rainbows…”
“Rainbows?“
“Yeah, you never heard that the rainbow is a symbol for gay pride? It stands for diversity. It all started with the gay marches and parades.”
“I never knew.”
“You see rainbows everywhere in the gay community (I saw a lot on my trip to San Francisco).
The rainbow stands for unity, movement, equality, and worth. It’s a network that supports gays, lesbians, transgenders, multi-genders, no-genders, family members, loved ones, everyone.”
I kept going, “Don’t you ever see rainbow flags on the back of people’s cars? Rainbows are everywhere once you start to notice them; hats, shoes, shirts, tattoos, Will and Grace…”
My sister may be in the dark…
But I was instantly reminded of all the beautiful pieces of pride jewelry (since jewelry is what I do). Pendants stand out the most. Stunning necklaces full of color, inspiration and bling.
Like these pride pieces here:
Friends, relatives, or part of the family, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we all band together, merge, form a new path in this country that gives gay people the rights they deserve; marriage, justice, taxes, lifestyles, choices, protection, everything should be equal. How can it not? In today’s time, it’s a drastic shame that it’s not.
So wave your flags high, and your rainbows higher.

Cheers! :)
