Remember Nugget?
Back in the 80’s and 90’s, Gold Nugget Jewelry was a huge, huge trend.
Everything, everywhere was Gold Nugget… Watches, Bracelets, Rings, Pendants… Everything was made with these gaudy, cheap-looking, tacky, mounds of gold… Craters that were odd shaped, asymmetrical, and often held diamonds and gemstones…
What happened to Gold Nuggets?
Thankfully, the market!
For as the price of gold soared, so did the quest for alternative metals, like Titanium, Stainless Steel, Tungsten, and Silver took over.
And I’m quite happy for that. Because Gold Nugget is something I will never, ever miss.
Like these Nuggets here…

No! NO! AND DEFINITELY NO! I never could see the attraction to any of that tacky, ugly nonsense. It looked like a whole lot of overcompensation for something to me! Especially when it hung off of a heavy chain down the middle of an overly hairy chest! Or on a pudgy hand holding a cheap, smelly cigar! Eeeeww!! Or one of those big, gaudy watches! Yuck!

I am proud to have a gold nugget bracelet and wrist watch in my vast jewelry collection. When I feel especially “tackie” I will add my gold diamond tennis bracelet on the same wrist with my watch. The other wrist sports a gold Cartier love bangle. Oh the shame of it all, LOL! (PS. I am a female :)
Hi Collette. You do have to admit that some nuggets were made way better than others. Some were paper-thin, ugly globs of gold that just looked tacky with no form or reason. Others, were not so bad. :) -Richard
