If you’re in the market for a large diamond, then you don’t have a lot of choices…
Because most stores have a very limited quantity of diamonds over 2.00 carats. They may carry just a couple, if you’re lucky.
This is because the cost for such stones is massive (and the markup is quite low). $10, $20, $30 grand all tied up into one piece of merchandise is a BIG commitment. And just having such a large stone is no guarantee you’d sell it either. You could sit on that stone for years before someone comes in looking for a super-sized stone (and then you have to worry about theft, insurance, keeping it safe and secure…)
So jewelers carry just a couple, if any. The demand is low. The diamonds are expensive.
They are very scarce in nature, which makes it even more difficult to shop and compare.
And, even if a jeweler did have a few large diamonds, the quality may not be what you’d like. If you’re looking for an SI1, E, they may only have an I2, J… Slim pickings!
So what can you do?
Drive all over town in despair?
No.
You just need to look ONLINE!
There are two huge diamond dealers online that I would highly recommend. They carry tons of large diamonds. In fact, the largest selections on Earth (over 200,000 diamonds each).
They are James Allen and Blue Nile.
Bring on the stones…
Just to show you how many large diamonds they have, let’s look at 2.00 carat round diamonds.
At the time of this post, James Allen has 2714 rounds to choose from.

(Sure beats looking at one diamond)
Now you’ll be able to compare the inclusions, flaws, cuts, colors, and find your dream diamond for that dream engagement or anniversary ring.
What about 3.00 carats?
As you go up the ladder, inventory gets smaller and smaller (as expected). Diamonds that large are far more rare and much harder to locate.
But right now, James Allen has 828 diamonds that are only 3.00 carats in stock:

Keep in mind, we’re only looking at ROUND diamonds here. If you looked at any other shape; Princess cut, Cushion cut, Marquise cut, Emerald cut, Radiant cut, Heart cut, Asscher cut… you’d find tons more larger stones. So I’m looking at a very narrowed down search.
Let’s look at 4 carat rounds:
There are still quite a few to decide on. James Allen has 270 diamonds in just a carat weight of 4 carat. Also meaning, if you looked at 3.75 carats, 3.80 carats, 4.12 carats, etc… You’d see way more. I’m selecting just the 4 carat diamond range…

So all together, James Allen actually has 7209 diamonds in stock (not including fancy cuts or fancy colors) that are over 2.00 carats or larger (and the biggest diamond you’ll see below).

Blue Nile is the same. They have a massive inventory of large diamonds (in all shapes and cutting styles).
Much more than you would find in any brick and mortar store.
The biggest difference…
What separates James Allen from Blue Nile is the diamonds themselves. James Allen shows you the real diamonds, magnified 20x, so you can spin them around and look at them in 360°. It’s amazing…
Take a peek…

Blue Nile only shows sample stock photos for most of their diamonds. So you won’t know what it looks like until you buy it (but they do have a return policy, just like James Allen). This is why I lean heavily towards James Allen versus anybody else.
So if you’re looking for a really big diamond, and want the best price possible, check out James Allen or Blue Nile.
You may spend a lot…
But you also get a lot. Much more than any other store could give you. Plus, every diamond is certified too (which many large diamonds aren’t!)
So it’s a win-win, and a REALLY BIG DEAL!
What’s the BIGGEST diamond?
If you really want to knock her socks off, look at this massive diamond here; it’s a 22.08 carat stone that’s just INSANE:

22.08, VS1, D, EX, EX, EX, NONE | $2,578,360 | VIEW |
So whether you’re looking for 2.00 carats, 3.00 carats, 4.00 carats, 5 carats, 6 carats or more… Head on over to James Allen or Blue Nile today!
Cheers! :)
