Let’s compare…
It’s the Astor cut from Blue Nile.
VERSUS
The True Hearts cut from James Allen.
Both of these cuts are the best of the best. Both are the most perfectly cut diamonds in the world (which show perfectly patterned hearts and arrows through a gemscope).
But which diamonds cost more?
Blue Nile or James Allen?
To find out, let’s compare some random carat weights, shapes, clarity and color to see who has the better deal.

And lastly…

.88, SI1, G, ASTOR CUT | $3,030 | VIEW |
.91, SI1, G, TRUE HEARTS | $3,900 | VIEW |
Winner: Blue Nile
No matter which quality I chose, it was pretty much a wash; 50/50. One diamond would be cheaper on one site, another would be cheaper on the other. There was no true winner in the end.
What determines diamond price?
Many factors: diamonds fluctuate daily like the dollar and the gold market. The cost of the stone will impact the final retail price, as well as availability, quality, certification, and demand. So it really just depends on what diamond you’re looking for at any given time. Diamonds today, will be different tomorrow.
Do note that Blue Nile and James Allen do have the lowest prices of loose diamonds anywhere. Compare them with any mall jewelry store and you’ll be blown away at the difference in quality and price.
My advice:
Check both sites when shopping for diamonds or an engagement ring. You will find huge quantities, and thousands of diamonds to view close up and magnified.
Astor cuts and True Hearts diamonds will both give you unbelievable sparkle, brilliance, and fire. They’re well worth the price for their beauty and appearance (cut is so much more important that clarity or color).
Find the perfect diamond today:
Cheers! :)
