Will You Marry Me On Christmas?

It’s Christmas Day…

Merry Christmas to ALL!

And I should also say “CONGRATS!”

Because this Day, TODAY, is the Day that Hundreds of Men and Women will get Engaged!

Every Year at Christmastime, Women Eagerly unwrap Small Jewelry Boxes under the Tree or Mistletoe. And in the Shimmering Twinkle of the Lights, they see an Engagement RING!

A Beautiful Diamond Solitaire Dancing in her Head…

Her Eyes Water…

Her Hand Shakes…

She looks up and Sees…

Her Boyfriend on One Knee…

“WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

The Family and Friends all Gather around.

Everyone Waits Patiently for the Response

It’s such a Sweet, Heart-Warming Moment.

So Festive and Fun…

And as much as I tell People Don’t Get Engaged on Christmas, they still do.

Tons of Couples get United (And After Christmas we SIZE a LOT of Engagement Rings!) HA!

And so, to all those who Mix Tradition with Romance and Holiday

CONGRATULATIONS!

It’s a Day you will always Remember!

Will Santa bring you a Big Diamond Ring?

Maybe! It all depends on if you’ve been Naughty or Nice!

(Or a Little of Both)

If you see a Small Box under the Tree, it could be a Diamond…

Or it could be Coal!

Just so you know!

HO HO HO! :)

  1. Merry Christmas, Richard! Hope your holidays are happy ones! I am home with a sick husband, which is keeping us from joining our daughter and son-in-law, and our six grandchildren, but we’re together at least, and happily so, which is a lot more than many couples can say after almost 40 years!

(He picked up some kind of “creeping crud” or flu bug, in spite of getting his flu shot some time ago, that some of his coworkers decided to keep coming to work with and spreading around, in spite of the availability of Sick Time!! Thank you very much! Them, of course, not you. LOL! In any case, because of that stupidity, we get to spend Christmas here at home, instead of with the kids.)

And, we’ll get with all the kids later this weekend we hope, and prolong everyone’s Christmas a few days! Gotta find a bit of silver lining in all these black clouds!

In any case, I went looking for the diamonds I knew I would find through your link for “a Big Diamond Ring” and saw some lovely, big, round, one carat-ish diamonds, with great, top tier color, clarity, cut and polish. And NO fluorescence! Running in the high 7’s to low to mid 8 thousand’s range in cost. Not too bad for round brilliants of excellent quality.

I decided to try a little experiment though, based on something you mentioned some time back, and something I had already discovered. I changed ONE characteristic about the diamonds for which the search had been set up. Only ONE. And I saw the price drop by almost 50%!! All I changed was the shape of the cut from round brilliant to cushion cut. That’s all. I didn’t change any other characteristic ~ not color, clarity, cut quality, polish, or anything else. Just the shape. And suddenly I was looking at beautiful stones for mid-4’s to low to mid-5’s in price!

So, if the ring is still to be purchased, say if the proposal is accepted, but the ring will be a future purchase with the couple doing the choosing together, or perhaps a Valentines Day proposal is coming up, a cushion cut is an option certainly to be considered. It will give you more leeway in the budget, for perhaps a larger stone but without sacrificing quality of any kind, or reducing the expected cost on the stone and getting a nicer mounting, maybe in platinum instead of gold, or even putting some of it in another place in the wedding, or the honeymoon, a $3,000 savings isn’t chump change!

    • Extending Christmas sounds good to me! :) Who wouldn’t like that? Happy your spirits are high and that you’ve been married for so long (I’m taking it you weren’t engaged on Christmas?) :)
No matter, it is amazing how much money can be saved on Cushion Cuts. It’s almost scary. Granted, the Cut Grade immediately Vanishes, but everything else stays the same. I’m a Big fan of Cushions and I LOVE the Price Range. You really can’t beat them. Enjoy the rest of your Holidays and let’s Wish for a GREAT New Year! :)
