Ruby is the one and only official birthstone for those born in the month of July (Birthstones go month to month, unlike the Zodiac signs).

Ruby is one of the Precious Gemstones (Quite rare, durable and expensive). The other two are: Emerald and Sapphire.

One of my Favorites…

Ruby is a big favorite of mine, for many reasons:

• The color red is awesome. Especially the vivid, blood red stones (the redder the better).
• Ruby is durable. It’s one of the most durable stones on the planet. Ruby (as well as Sapphire) are a 9 on the Moh’s Scale of Hardness (Diamond is a 10).
• Red is a color associated with POWER!
• Ruby also symbolizes: Elegance, courage, boldness, action, and high energy.
• Rubies are safe to put in an Ultrasonic Cleaner (many Gemstones you can’t. Read: What Stones shouldn’t go in the Jewelry Cleaner).
• Ruby is an Anniversary Gift for these Wedding Years: 11, 15, 40, 60, and 95.
• Rubies are used as the Base Chakra (Root Chakra) because of their beautiful hues.
