Never in 30 years have I ever had someone walk into the jewelry store and ask to purchase one particular diamond clarity:

FLAWLESS (FL)

In fact, no one has ever asked to see Internally Flawless (IF) either.

Granted, I have sold many of these before after comparing a common clarity (like SI) to a flawless stone under the microscope, but it’s rare. Especially since most stores don’t even stock flawless diamonds. They’re that hard to locate.

You could probably go to 10 local jewelry stores in your area, and inquire about flawless diamonds and chances are you may find 1 stone. Just one.

It’s almost impossible to find.

More than likely it’s not only because it’s extremely rare, but also quite expensive. When you compare an SI clarity diamond, up against a FL clarity diamond, you will find that the price doubles.
