So now that you have a better refreshment about what to expect, let’s take a look at the diamond in question below and give your best guess on what diamond clarity you think it could be.

GUESS THIS DIAMOND CLARITY

Think you’ve got it?

Think you know which grade it falls into?

Are you ready for the answer?

Well, here it is…

This particular diamond shown above is actually I1 clarity.

CARAT, CLARITY, COLOR, CUT, POL, SYM, FLUOR PRICE VIEW
.30, I1, F, EX, EX, EX, NONE $310 VIEW

Shocked?

This diamond faces up so well, and looks so clean visually that it appears to resemble a much higher clarity, like SI, or even VS. You could put this stone side-by-side with a much better and more expensive diamond and the clarity would be almost indistinguishable.

Why is that?

Because flaws and clarity are subjective. Diamonds, which are all unique, are graded by certain guidelines. But when it comes down to it, it’s all someone’s opinion.

These flaws can be white flaws, which are harder to see. They could be hidden by the brilliance of the stone. The stone could be smaller in carat weight, making them smaller as well. They could reside deeper in the stone, obscuring them. They could also be more noticeable by simply rotating or turning the diamond in the light.

So I’m not saying it isn’t an I clarity stone, in fact, I am agreeing with the analysis (plus, it’s certified by GIA). I’m just saying that some lower clarity diamonds face up great and look just as good as the best clarity diamonds that you can buy.

This is why it’s so important to not instantly rule them out. Don’t dismiss them. Because some will fool you, and delight like you, if you give them a chance.

Take a look through all the I clarity diamonds here at James Allen, and see if you can find some true winners, and some massive deals.

For a beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so behold the power of diamonds. You just might be surprised.

Cheers! :)
