COMPARE AMAZON LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS TO JAMES ALLEN DIAMONDS

So I decided to do something fun today. I decided to look at big lab-grown diamonds (also called lab-created) on Amazon to see what the biggest diamond they sold was.

Do note that big diamonds change pretty frequently as they are all different, have different qualities, certificates and prices. So what I see today, could be totally different tomorrow.

With that said, today I see a massive 5.02 lab-grown emerald cut diamond on Amazon (searching for lab-grown diamonds and sorting by price).

The specifications are:

  • Emerald Cut
  • 5.02 Carat
  • Lab Grown
  • VS2 Clarity
  • H Color
  • Excellent Symmetry
  • Excellent Polish
  • Fluorescence None
  • IGI Certified

And the selling price:

$22,120.00

(at the time of this post)

5.02, VS2, H, EMERALD, EX, EX, NONE$22,120VIEW

This seemed pretty high to me, so I wanted to compare similar stones with James Allen (one of the biggest and best diamond dealers online).

Sorting by carat weight and emerald cut, I find this beautiful 5.01 carat diamond:

The specifications are:

  • Emerald Cut
  • 5.01 Carat
  • Lab Grown
  • VS1 Clarity
  • F Color
  • Excellent Symmetry
  • Excellent Polish
  • Fluorescence None
  • IGI Certified

James Allen 5 Carat Lab-Grown Diamond

And now the shocker, the price:

The 5.01 carat emerald cut diamond at James Allen is selling for:

$10,300

(at the time of this post)

CARAT, CLARITY, COLOR, CUT, POL, SYM, FLUORPRICEVIEW
5.01, VS1, F, EMERALD, EX, EX, NONE$10,300VIEW

That’s a price drop of over $12,000.

And what’s even crazier is this; the clarity and color at James Allen is better. The clarity is VS1, and the color moves all the way up to pure-white; it’s an F color.

And, at the James Allen website, you can actually see the real diamond, magnify the stone, and spin it around to see all sides. It’s pretty impressive.

So would you spend $22,000 for a 5 carat?

Or would you rather spend just $10,300?

It’s a humongous difference, and it just goes to show you that you MUST compare diamonds and prices everywhere to find the best deal.

See more large diamonds here at James Allen (and sort by cut if you prefer).

Cheers! :)
