Every Diamond Is Perfect

It’s like beauty, it’s in the eyes of the beholder.

Because I hear it time and time again from customers talking about their diamond rings (getting them sized, retipped, reset…)

“My diamond is perfect,” they say.

And they mean it.

Perfection, flawless, it’s one of the same…

They’re not actually saying their diamond is truly perfect

Just perfect for them!

Their diamond is perfect because it’s their engagement ring. Of course it’s going to be a fairytale come true.

Many women even say, “My diamond is flawless, except for that one black spot right there…” And they’ll hold out their ring and point at the stone.

So to most, their diamond is perfect (even if it’s the lowest clarity grade on Earth). It doesn’t matter the quality or color, perfection is in the heart and soul. It’s sentimental, beautiful, meaningful, it’s the ring they were proposed with.

A real perfect diamond (highest ratings of the 4C’s) would cost this much:

Perfect Quality Diamond

But most people’s real perfect diamond would be more like this:

Is This A Perfect Diamond

1.06, SI2, H, EX, EX, EX, NONE $2,880 VIEW
1.06, FL, D, EX, EX, EX, NONE $13,560 VIEW

Big difference!

So perfection is loosely used, but always means the same thing:

It’s perfect for me.

So, is your diamond perfect?

Or is perfection just a figment of your imagination?

Let me know in the comments below.

Cheers! :)

  1. No, my diamond is not “perfect.” It’s small – 0.27ct – it’s J color, SI2 clarity, polish good, fluorescence status unknown, and it came in a simple six prong 14kt white gold mounting (Tiffany style). It goes with a plain, 2mm, 14kt white gold wedding band. If I could post pictures here, I would, as I still have them! I had them cleaned, polished, thoroughly examined, and freshly rhodium replated before I put them away in a special ring box.

I can’t wear them anymore. They have been resized twice already, and to wear them, I would have to resize them (up) again. They are both very narrow, and don’t suit my larger fingers any longer as they did when they (and my fingers) were new! Originally, they were size 5-1/4, and now I wear an 8. That was a very small ring size originally.
Certainly nothing to put in an advertising picture, unless it’s for small, simple engagement ring for an 18-year-old, “freshly minted” high school graduate in November of 1975! And bought by her
19-year-old, U.S. Air Force, Airmen 1st Class fiancé on his 1st credit purchase!

And picked out together – so style, size and price were all covered and agreeable! I got exactly what I asked for – in the ring, and in the man, even more so! ;-D And this coming Sunday, July 28th, we will be celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary! :-D
